BJP’s aim is Anodlan Mukt Assam: Amit Shah

Guwahati:  Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that aim of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ‘Andolan-Mukt’ Assam.

He was addressing Town Hall Programme at Shrimant Shankar Deb Kalashetra Auditorium after launching BJP’s social media campaign ‘Selfie with Development’ in Assam.

“Under whose govt were gunshots fired at Assam youth? ‘Andolan-Mukt’ Assam is what we aim for. In 5 years, BJP worked to free Assam from movements & those who were part of movement, today stand with Congress to eat into our vote base,” Shah said.

The Home Minister also asserted that there should be a nationalist govt in Assam that works not for just Assam but for entire North East.

Our aim is to establish prosperous Assam and a culture that connects North-East India’s regional communities, Shah said.

Assam is going to polls in three phases with the first phase of the election being held on 27 March, followed by the second phase on 1 April and the third and final phase on 6 April. More than 23 million voters will exercise their franchise to elect the 15th legislative assembly. Out of total 126 seats, 47 seats in 12 districts will vote during the first phase, 39 constituencies in 13 districts for the second phase and the third and the final phase would have 41 constituencies across 12 districts. Votes will be counted on May 2. Sarbananda Sonowal-led BJP government in Assam is eyeing to return in power.  (PW News)
