New Delhi: A delegation of MLAs from Puducherry called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Friday.

The Home Minister shared a photo of the meeting on Twitter and tweeted: “Today, met a delegation of MLAs from Puducherry. The central government under the leadership of PM @NarendraModi Ji is committed towards realising the vision of a developed and progressive Puducherry.”

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) formed the government in Puducherry when results for the Assembly elections were announced on May 2 this year.

The All-India NR Congress (AINRC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) together crossed the half-way mark in the 30-member Assembly after winning 16 seats.

The assembly election for all 30 seats in Puducherry was held in a single phase on April 6. Nearly 82 per cent of the 10.04 lakh voters had exercised their franchise in the Union Territory on April 6. While AINRC had fielded candidates in 16 of the total 30 constituencies, the BJP had contested in nine seats. (PW News)
