Economy progressing due to last 7 years’ decisions: PM Modi

New Delhi: India’s economy is progressing due to the decisions taken by the union government in the last seven years, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 2, 2022.

He was virtually addressing the ‘Self-Reliant Economy’ programme that was organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the party workers, said a press release issued by the party.

The Prime Minister said that like the Second World War changed the world, now Corona is poised to change the world.

“At present, the country is fighting the biggest global pandemic in 100 years. It is time for India to prepare afresh, for new opportunities, for the fulfillment of new resolutions. It is very important that India becomes self-reliant and a modern India should be built on the foundation of that self-reliant India,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said that India’s economy is expanding continuously due to the decisions taken and policies made by the Centre in the last seven years, and also due to improvement in the old policies.

 “Seven-eight years ago, India’s GDP was Rs 1, 10,000 crore. Today, it is around Rs 2,30,000 crore,” PM Modi said.

He added that when the poor get basic facilities then he invests his energy, his development in the development of the country.

“The focus of this budget is also on providing basic facilities to the poor, middle class and youth and connecting them with permanent solutions of income.”

The Prime Minister said that steps have been taken in Union Budget 2022-23 to make the country’s agriculture technology-based and chemical-free.

“In the last budget, we ensured the facility of Kisan Rail and Kisan Udan, now Kisan Drone is going to become the new companion of the farmer. Now, we are working on the Natural Farming Corridor. This corridor will be of 2500 kms. A 5-km wide natural farming corridor will be developed on the banks of the Ganga in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.”

Following are other highlights of Prime Minister Modi’s speech:

“Due to the efforts of the Central Government, today drinking water has started reaching about 9 crore rural households in the country. Out of this, more than 5 crore water connections have been provided under Jal Jeevan Mission in the last 2 years.”

“This year’s budget has announced that about 4 crore rural households will get piped water connections this year with a cost of more than 60,000 crore rupees.”

“The provision of thousands of crores of rupees for the Ken-Betwa link will also change the picture of Bundelkhand region of UP and MP.”

“Even the United Nations has praised the work done for the poor under the Aspirational District Campaign in the fields of education, health, roads, electricity and water. A special Vibrant Village Programme has been announced in the budget for the development of border villages.”

“Another major campaign related to national defense ‘Parvatmala Project’ has been announced in the budget. It is going to expand the modern connectivity and modern infrastructure in the Himalayan regions.”

“A big campaign is going on continuously to make farmer energetic. Our government has made record purchases on Minimum Support Price (MSP) in the last years. Farmers are expected to get more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore as MSP this season for paddy alone.”

“BJP understands youth’s aspirations and dreams. Tax benefits for start-ups have been carried forward in this budget. Now, mobile banking, internet banking, ATM and online fund transfer facility will be available in post office accounts like banks.”

“Today, cheap and fast internet has become the identity of India. Very soon optical fiber connectivity will be provided to all the villages. The launch of 5G service is going to give a different dimension to the ease of living and ease of doing business in India.”

“India is one of the top five markets in the world for mobile gaming. To make India a hub of global game developers and gaming services, a task force has been set up in this budget.”

“Digital currency will give a fillip to the digital economy. With the Emergency Credit Guarantee Scheme, about 1.5 crore jobs have been secured in the MSME sector and the livelihood of about 6 crore people has been secured.”

“In 2014, there were 90,000 kms of national highways in the country that were built in the last 70 years. We have built 50,000 kms of national highways in the last 7 years. Under the PM Gatishakti master plan, new highways will be built in the country.”

“Multimodal Logistics Parks will be set up at four places in India, and 100 Pradhan Mantri Gatishakti Cargo Terminals will be developed for multimodal logistics facilities.”

“In last7 years, we have eliminated 25,000 non-essential compliances, abolished 1500 non-essential and outdated laws. On the basis of this trust, the government is also going to launch the ‘Ease of Doing Business 2.0’ campaign.”

BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, BJP’s National Organization General Secretary B.L. Santosh, all BJP national general secretaries, national vice-presidents, BJP’s Ministers in the Union Government, senior BJP officials and leaders, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states, Deputy Chief Ministers, Ministers in the State Governments, party workers from state, district and mandal level listened to the Prime Minister from about 1800 places across the country.
