New Delhi: A former Director-General of Police of Punjab and other eminent personalities from the state joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on December 3, 2021.
The development comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Congress-ruled state.
Former Director-General of Police of the state SS Virk, many eminent personalities joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister and party’s Punjab election in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Besides Virk, industrialist Harcharan Singh Ranauta, former Punjab Cooperative Bank chairman Avtar Singh Zira, former Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sarabjit Singh Makkar and some other Punjab personalities joined the BJP.
Addressing a press conference, Shekhawat said that the new entrants in the BJP will further strengthen the party’s position in Punjab.
It is notable that recently Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa had joined the BJP. (PW News)
