Haryana: Vij orders police deployment at crowded places

Chandigarh: Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij directed all the Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the state that the police force be deployed at crowded places like markets, shopping centres, playgrounds so that COVID-19 guidelines can be strictly adhered to.

While presiding over a high level review meeting of police officers, the Home Minister on Friday said that the COVID-19 rules framed by the government should be strictly enforced.

He said that in view of increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state, the police have been ordered not to give any kind of relaxation.

He directed to strictly adhere to the orders related to closure of shops after 6 pm daily, the imposition of corona curfew from 10 pm to 5 am, and attendance of 50 people for indoor and 200 people for outdoor programmes.

In addition to this, Vij said that he has directed duty magistrates and local municipal officers to keep a check on clubs, banquet halls, wedding ceremonies and public functions so that the number of people invited to the programmes does not exceed the maximum limit.

He said that strict action will be taken against any of the said venues if they are found to be in violation of the rules.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Rajiv Arora; Director General of Police, Manoj Yadava; Additional Director General of Police, Navdeep Singh Virk; Inspector General of Police Rakesh Kumar; and many senior officers were present during the meeting. (PR)
