Himachal to make medical colleges’ oxygen plants functional

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday said that the liquid oxygen plants would be made functional soon in three major Medical Colleges of the State viz. IGMC Shimla, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College, Tanda in Kangra district, and Medical College Ner Chowk in Mandi district to ensure that there was 24×7 oxygen to the Covid-19 patients.

He announced this while presiding over the high-level meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the State with the senior officers of the State.

Thakur said that in order to meet out any eventuality, additional 1500 beds would be made available. He said that all the people of the State coming from different parts of the country must keep themselves under home isolation for at least a week to rule out any possibility of spread of virus, in case they are infected.

He said that the people must also voluntarily get themselves tested if they have any ILI symptoms. He urged the people visiting the State to inform about their arrival to elected representatives of PRIs and ULBs and health workers so that if required they could be advised for any medical help.

The CM said that the State Government would also provide Health kits to Covid-19 patients in home isolation. He said that all the people in home isolation must be ensured proper treatment and senior doctors must constantly keep contact with the patients to regularly monitor their health parameters.

Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap, Chief Secretary Anil Khachi, Additional Chief Secretaries R.D. Dhiman and J.C. Sharma, Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi, Director Information and Public Relation Harbans Singh Brascon, and other officers attended the meeting. (PR)
