Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Yogi vows to expose culprits

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 3, 2021, vowed to expose culprits behind Lakhimpur Kheri violence in which six persons have died.   

Calling the incident of Lakhimpur Kheri unfortunate, Yogi said that the government will go to the bottom of the incident and expose the elements involved in it.  

“Strict action will be taken against whoever is involved in the incident.”

He has appealed to all the people of the area to stay at their homes and not to be misled by anyone.

“Do your contribution in maintaining peace and order on the spot. Wait for the on-the-spot investigation and action before reaching any conclusion.”

Violence in Tikunia town of Nighasan tehsil of Lakhimpur on Sunday afternoon left six people dead. The dead included four protesting farmers and two BJP supporters.

The Chief Minister also directed Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar, Commissioner Lucknow and IG Lucknow to control the situation by visiting the spot.

Yogi also reviewed the situation after meeting with senior officials of the government and Director General of Police Mukul Goyal and directed to take all precautionary measures to control the situation. An official spokesperson said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the four officers reached Lakhimpur Kheri late in the evening and engaged in the exercise to control the situation. Five companies of Central Force and three additional companies of PAC have been deployed.  (PW News)
