Jammu: Shiv Sena on March 12, 2022, alleged that the Narendra Modi government has misled the nation over Jammu and Kashmir.
Shiv Sena’s Jammu and Kashmir unit President Manish Sahni said that the BJP government at the Centre has misled the people of the state and the country regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir are neither getting full statehood nor getting benefits of a Union Territory. The process of staying Kashmir centered and discrimination against Jammu division is going on unabatedly,” he added.
Sahni said that even today, instead of Union Territory tax (UTGST), State tax (SGST) is being collected from the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni said that despite a long gap of 27 months since the abrogation of Article 370 and the reorganization of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the democratic process has not been restored in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni asserted that thousands of daily wagers are being forced to adopt the path of agitation seeking minimum wages at par with other states and Union Territory of the country.
He said that even the dream of buying a piece of land in Kashmir is not practical.
“To buy land in Jammu and Kashmir is possible only through the State Subject and Domicile-A made in its lieu. Like before, prepaid SIM cards of other states stop functioning as soon as they enter the border of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Shahni said that apart from causing heavy losses to tourism and religious places in J&K, the message remains that Jammu and Kashmir is still isolated from other parts of the country.
In such a situation, he said, it is clear that the UT given by the Central Government to Jammu and Kashmir is incomplete and false. (Press Release)
