New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged that Narendra Modi government is privatising profit.
Expressing solidarity with protesting bank employees, the Congress leader trained guns at the Modi government by alleging that it is selling public sector banks to its “cronies”.
“GOI (Government of India) is privatising profit and nationalising loss. Selling PSBs to Modicronies gravely compromises India’s financial security,” Gandhi tweeted.
It’s notable that the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), an umbrella body of nine unions, started two-day bank strike on Tuesday.
Members of UFBU include: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE), All India Bank Officers’ Association (AIBOA), Bank Employees Confederation of India (BEFI), Indian National Bank Employees Federation (INBEF), Indian National Bank Officers Congress (INBOC), National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW) and National Organisation of Bank Officers (NOBO).
The bank unions are protesting against the proposed privatisation of two Public Sector Banks, which was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Union Budget as part of Modi government’s disinvestment plan. (PW News)
