PM condoles demise of Gita Press President Khemka and Digvijaysinh Zala

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the passing away of Gita Press President Radheshyam Khemka and former union minister Digvijaysinh Zala.

President of Gita Press Radheshyam Khemka passed away in Varanasi following a brief illness. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ravindrapuri. He breathed his last at his residence in Kedarghat. He was 87.

Prime Minister Modi condoled the death of Khemka and said that he remained active in social work throughout of his life.

In a tweet, the PM said: “Deeply saddened by the demise of Gita Press President Radheshyam Khemka ji, who brought Sanatan literature to the masses. Khemka Ji remained active in various social works throughout his life. My condolences to his family and fans in this hour of mourning. Om Shanti!”

The Prime Minister also expressed grief over the demise of former Union Minister Digvijaysinh Zala.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Anguished by the demise of former Union Minister, Shri Digvijaysinh Zala Ji. He played an active role in Gujarat and national politics. He will be remembered for his community service and passion towards the environment. Condolences to his family. Om Shanti.”

Former Union Environment Minister and MLA from Gujarat’s Wankaner Zala passed away following a brief period of illness today. He was 88.

Establishing the Environment ministry under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he became the first Environment Minister of the country from 1982 to 1984. (PW News)
