Chabua: Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi on Saturday censured Congress party in poll bound Assam.
Addressing an election rally in Chabua, PM Modi termed Congress as an enemy of Assam and Assamese people.
“Congress has joined hands with parties that are a danger to Assam’s culture and heritage. Congress has gone very far from the people of Assam. A few days ago, they shared a photo from Sri Lanka and said it was Assam. A few days ago, they shared a photo from Taiwan and said it was Assam. A mistake repeated is a habit, and not just a mistake. It is injustice and insult to our beautiful Assam,” PM Modi said.
Sharpening his attack, the Prime Minister said that
the greed of power is paramount for Congress.
“The Congress, once the largest party in the country, is shrinking today. The reason is absolutely clear. There is no respect for talent in Congress, greed for power is paramount. For power, they can take anyone with them, they can support anyone,” PM Modi said.
Urging people to vote BJP led NDA to power, the Prime Minister said “in the last few years, the NDA govt has laid foundations of strong development. Now is the time to start building the road towards swift development on these foundations”.
Development of every region of Assam is a priority for the BJP govt. We are committed to ensure that the culture and heritage of the state remains protected, he added.
“Our govt is constantly working to create new opportunities for the youth, to industries, to empower women and to increase the income of farmers.”
Maintaining that Assam has an integral role to play in the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, PM Modi said it can be an exporter of several organic foods, and not just tea.
There are massive opportunities for production of organic fruits, vegetables and salads in this region, the PM said.
The polls for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The results will be announced on May 2. (PW News)
