PM Modi transfers over 19k crore to farmers’ accounts

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the 8th installment of financial benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme via video conferencing.

The PM digitally transfered the benefit of more than ₹19,000 crore directly to the bank accounts of more than 9.5 crore farmers

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said: “On this auspicious day of Akshaya Tritya, around Rs 19,000 crores have directly been transferred to the banks of farmers. It would benefit close to 10 crore farmers. For the first time, farmers from West Bengal will be benefitted from this scheme.”

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, a financial benefit of Rs. 6000/- per year is provided to the eligible beneficiary farmer families, payable in three equal 4-monthly installments of Rs.2000/- each. The fund is transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

According to
the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Samman Rashi (financial benefit) of over Rs. 1.15 lakh crore has been transferred to farmer families so far under this scheme.

Lauding Indian farmers, the PM said: “Amid the difficult challenges of #COVID19, farmers have made records in agriculture & gardening while Govt is also setting new records on procurement on MSP every year. In comparison to last year, 10% more wheat has been purchased on MSP this year”

He urged everone to defeat Covid-19 by getting vaccinated.

“One way of defeating the virus is by taking the COVID Vaccine. I request everyone to register themselves for the COVID vaccine and ensure COVID Appropriate Behaviour is followed at all times,” PM Modi said.

He also oulined the Centre’s efforts to contain the virus.

“The government is dedicated on making COVID hospitals and COVID care centres. Oxygen plants are being setup with the latest technology,” PM Modi said.

He added that the Armed forces are also working with full strength to ensure oxygen supply in these tough times. (PW News)
