President Kovind presents Padma Awards 2020

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on November 8, 2021, presented Padma Awards for the year 2020 at Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were: Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours of India announced annually on the eve of Republic Day. The Awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of higher order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). The award seeks to recognise achievements in all fields of activities or disciplines where an element of public service is involved.

At the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I, the President presented four Padma Vibhushan, eight Padma Bhushan, and sixty-one Padma Shri Awards for the year 2020.
