New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sought voters’ support to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates in ensuing Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry assembly elections.
Addressing the first rally in Kerala’s Palakkad, the Prime Minister promised FAST development in the state.
In his second rally in Tamil Nadu’s Dharapuram, PM Modi fired salvos at the ‘dynasty politics’ of the Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and promised to strengthen women.
In Puducherry, the Prime Minister promised to make the union territory ‘Best’.

Kickstarting his first public meeting ahead of assembly polls in Kerala’s Palakkad, the Prime Minister took a jibe at Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF).
The BJP has fielded Metro Man 88-year-old E Sreedharan.
PM Modi left no stone unturned to attack the LDF as well as UDF, which has also ruled Kerala in the past. It’s notable that the state has never returned an incumbent government since the 1980s.
“For many years, the worst kept secret of Kerala politics was the friendly agreement of UDF and LDF. Now, the first time voter of Kerala is asking- what is this match fixing? Five years one loots, five years the other loots,” PM Modi said.
Apart from Congress, other constituents of the UDF are: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), Kerala Congress, Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Janata Dal, Communist Marxist Party (CMP) and Kerala Congress (Jacob).
“About LDF it can be said: Judas betrayed Lord Christ for a few pieces of silver; LDF has betrayed Kerala for a few pieces of gold,” PM Modi said while referring to the gold smuggling case.
The gold smuggling case relates to seizure of 30 kilograms of gold at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on July 5, 2020.
The Air cargo, classified as diplomatic baggage, was addressed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Consulate. The smuggling racket has turned into a political controversy as Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s principal secretary M Sivasankar was arrested in October 2020 in the case.
“About UDF and LDF, the youth of Kerala is saying: “Different name, work same. Both have their marked areas for making money. UDF has not even spared the rays of the sun,” PM Modi said while alluding to the solar panel scam during previous UDF government.
Without naming Sabarimala in the context of the 2018 Supreme Court verdict on the entry of women of all ages and the subsequent protests and violence in the state that year, PM Modi targeted the two fronts for their stand on the issue.
Claiming that the BJP will ‘uphold’ the culture and traditions of the state, PM Modi said: “It is about the LDF and UDF’s direct attack on Kerala’s culture. These parties are ashamed of the culture of our land. Their leaders abuse our traditions and ethos. LDF Government should be ashamed of showering Lathis on innocent devotees. UDF should be ashamed of remaining silent when this was happening. I am proud to belong to a Party that has, is and will always defend the culture of our land.”
He added: “I want to tell the LDF & UDF: Your lathis will not scare us. If you abuse our culture, we will not be silent spectators. Our state unit President Surendran Ji was arrested and ill-treated by the Kerala Government. What was his crime? That he spoke for Kerala’s traditions?”
He said that the BJP’s vision for Kerala is forward looking and aspirational.
“The high number of road-blocks by UDF and LDF has made the speed of development slower. That is why, the time has come for FAST development in Kerala, which BJP promises: By FAST, what I mean is: F for Fisheries and Fertilizers; A for Agriculture and Ayurveda; S for Skill development and Social justice; T for Tourism and Technology,” he said.
Urging everyone to vote for BJP in the upcoming elections, PM Modi assured ‘change’ in Kerala.
“The youth of Kerala want change. BJP assures that change. Thus, when you vote on April 6, vote for good governance and development, Vote for a government that guarantees peace and prosperity. Vote for BJP.”
The Assembly election is scheduled to be held in Kerala on April 6, 2021, to elect 140 MLAs to the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. The results will be declared on 2nd May.

The Congress and DMK came in the firing line of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he addressed an election rally in Dharapuram, Tamil Nadu.
“On one hand, NDA has our development agenda. On the other hand, the Congress and DMK have their own dynasty agenda. The speeches of their leaders have nothing positive to offer. They hardly talk about their own vision or work. All they do is demean others and spread lies,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also cornered Congress and DMK over former union minister A Raja, who was jailed in 2G scam during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule, for his alleged derogatory remarks against women.
“These days Congress and DMK have launched their outdated 2-G missile (A Raja). This 2-G missile has one clear target- the women of Tamil Nadu. A few days back, this Missile was launched by UPA with a clear order- to attack the Nari Shakti of Tamil Nadu,” PM Modi said.
It’s notable that recently Raja allegedly made derogatory remarks about Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his birth, for which the Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to the DMK leader asking him to explain his remarks on or before 6 pm Wednesday, failing which the poll body will “take a decision without any further reference”.
“Today, Congress and DMK have insulted the respected Mother of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister. God forbid, if they come to power, they will insult many other women of Tamil Nadu,” PM Modi cautioned the voters.
“Never forget 25th March 1989. In the Assembly of Tamil Nadu, remember how did DMK leaders treat Amma Jayalalithaa Ji. DMK and Congress will not guarantee women empowerment. In their rule, crimes against women are up”.
Appealing the people to vote for the NDA, the PM said, “We in the NDA are inspired by the thoughts and ideals of the great Andal and Avvaiyar. We believe that the progress of society is not complete without empowerment of women. That is why, all our schemes are aimed at strengthening our Nari Shakti (Women Power).”
He also promised to strengthen farmers, businesses and Tamil culture.
The BJP has forged alliance with the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and contesting on 20 seats.
The assembly election of Tamil Nadu is scheduled to be held on 6 April 2021, to elect 234 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from 234 constituencies in the state.
PM Modi gives ‘Best’ mantra to Puducherry

Addressing the election rally in Puducherry, the PM Modi promised to give ‘Best’ to the union territory.
“I had shared my vision for Puducherry in one word- Best. I had said, NDA will work to make Best Puducherry. By Best I mean: Business Hub, Education Hub, Spiritual Hub, Tourism Hub,” the PM said.
Attacking the previous Congress government, PM Modi said: “In the long list of non-performing Congress governments over the years; the previous Puducherry Government has a special place. The ‘High Command’ Government of Puducherry failed on all fronts.”
He also ridiculed former chief minister Narayansamy, who resigned last month after his government was reduced to a minority following a spate of resignations.
“I have had a reasonably long experience in politics. I have seen many elections. But, the Puducherry election 2021 is unique. Do you know why? Because the sitting Chief Minister has not been given a ticket.”
The Prime Minister further attacked Narayansamy and said: “So many years of loyalty. Lifting slippers of his leader; doing wrong translations to impress his leader. Still, no ticket! This clearly shows how much of a disaster his Government has turned out to be.”
The PM also said that the Key schemes of NDA Government have helped the people of Puducherry.
He also said: “When I think of Puducherry I think about Bharathiyar. I think about Sri Aurobindo. I think about Sithanda Swamy and Thollaikkathu Siddhar. I bow in reverence to the Manakula Vinayagar Swamy Temple and the Sreemath Guru Sithanandha Swamigal Devasthanam.”
Puducherry will be voting on April 6, 2021 to elect members from 30 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly.
