Shiv Sena takes out Adhikar Rath Yatra towards Kashmir

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray on Wednesday took out “Adhikar Rath Yatra” from Jammu to Kashmir.

The objective of the yatra is to make people aware about their rights and press government to accede their demands including state status to Jammu and Kashmir, free electricity water, extension of rail track towards Rajouri and Poonch, reservation in jobs for local youth and unemployment allowance to youth and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, the party said in a press release.

The Yatra was organized on the direction of Party’s national president and Chief Minister of Maharashtra UddhavThackeray and was virtually flagged off by national secretary and MP Anil Desai, the release said.

Speaking on the occasion, party’s J&K unit President Manish Sahni urged Central government to fulfill the promises made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.

“More than one and a half years have passed since Jammu and Kashmir became a Union Territory, but all the leaders of Modi Government and BJP have not been raising the issue of restoring statehood of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that they similarly adopted silence on increasing the assembly seats in Jammu region.

Sahni said that the government has not yet formulated policy to fulfill the promise of giving employment to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

While terming free electricity, water as the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Sahni said that many times more electricity is being generated by using the resources of Jammu and Kashmir than consumption.

He also demanded 50 percent relaxation in public and Govt transport for women and free hold plot in Kashmir for soldiers as well as para military force and along with Kashmir expension of rail track towards Rajouri, Poonch.

The Rath Yatra traveled till Batote on Wednesday and on Thursday morning will leave for Kashmir, the release said.

On this occasion, several party leaders from Maharashtra, including the party’s national organizer Gulab Dubey, virtually joined the Rath yatra and greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Among those who were present included President Women Wing Minakshi Chhibber, Chairman Rakesh Gupta, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, GI Singh, Vice President Harsh Gupta, Sanjeev Kohli, Surjeet Singh Chib, Sandeep Bhagat, Vikas Divan, Secretary Balwant Singh, Binny Mahajan, Munish Kumar, Praveen, Tarsem, Balveer Hundreds of activists attended, including Singh, Geeta Lakhotra, Meena, Jaspreet K, Monia Data, Sukhwinder Kaur, Avinash Data, Bhuri Singh, Santosh Kumari, Ajay Kumar ,Jammu Youth Wing President Binny Mahajan, Manya Janavi, Rewa Data, Janvi, Nusrat, Gian Sharma , and Ashish Bali.
