Tharoor demands postponement of NEET PG exam

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has demanded postponement of the NEET-PG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – Post Graduate) exam in the view of rising Corona cases in the country.

“While the Govt has suspended school exams, the National Board of Examinations has scheduled the NEET PG exam for 18th April 2021. Around 1.7 lakh applicants around India, including residents working in private& govt hospitals, will be exposed to Covid19. #PostponeNEETnow!” Tharoor tweeted on Thursday.

Several medical students are using #postponeneetpg and other similar hashtags on Twitter to urge the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to postpone the NEET-PG exam amid rising COVID-19 cases. Their demand is that the exam should be held after the peak of COVID-19 infections is crossed.

It’s notable that the decision to cancel/postpone the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board exams was taken at a high-level meeting between PM Narendra Modi, the Education Minister & top officials on Wednesday.

The following decisions have been taken in the meeting:

CBSE Class 10th Board Exams 2021 are cancelled.

CBSE Class 12th Board Exams 2021 have been postponed.

CBSE 10th Result 2021 will be declared on the basis of criteria set by the board.

Fresh exam CBSE date sheet for CBSE 12th board exams 2021 will be announced soon. (PW News)
