New Delhi: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said there will be a Congress party’s chief minister in Assam.
Without naming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Baghel tweeted that those who have been playing the disgusting game of forming governments on the basis of communal polarization should listen: there would be Congress’ chief minister in Assam’s Congress led coalition government.
He added that the Congress’ chief minister would a son of the soil (Assam).
Baghel is the Congress’ observer for Assam Assembly elections. He has been campaigning for the party candidates in the state, which was snatched by the BJP in the last assembly elections.
The Congress, which ruled Assam for decades, has entered into a grand alliance that has the Maulana Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF as a key ally, in a bid to defeat the ruling BJP.
The term of the current Assam Assembly is expiring on May 31.
The polls for the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The results will be announced on May 2. (PW News)
