New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP’s Hindutva poster boy Yogi Adityanath on Thursday targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee a.ka. Didi in his election rallies.
The UP CM addressed three rallies: Sagar, Chandrakona and Nandigram in West Bengal that is going for assembly polls.
Thursday was the last day for campaigning for 30 West Bengal seats that are going for polls in the first phase on March 27.
Mamata Banerjee is contesting from Nandigram and the BJP has fielded her former acolyte Suvendu Adhikari from the constituency.
Here is the combined reportage of Yogi’s rallies.
“The TMC government has no concern for the development of Bengal, no concern for the youth of Bengal, no concern for the farmers of Bengal, no concern for the sisters and daughters of Bengal. It’s concerned about protecting the intruders, ” Yogi said
Criticising Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule in the state, he said, “The BJP’s slogan in Bengal is ‘Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas’ and Mamata Didi’s slogan is ‘My development and TMC’s development’. She also wishes that no one other than her prospers.”
Yogi also fanned Hindutva sentiments by mentioning cow slaughter and Jai Shri Ram slogan.
“Mamata Didi cannot ban ‘cow slaughter’ in Bengal because she fears that her vote bank will slip.”
He added that “Mamata Didi tried to ban the slogan “Jai Shri Ram”, but I would like to congratulate the public that now everyone has started chanting “Jai Shri Ram”. I hear ‘Jai Shri Ram’ from the mouth of every elderly, every youth, every mother and every sister of Bengal.”
Talking about the Ram Temple movement in Ayodhya, Yogi said that the youth of Bengal had participated enthusiastically in the Ram temple movement.
“The ‘Kothari brothers’ who were sacrificed in the Ram temple movement were born in Bengal. The sacrificial memorial of ‘Kothari brothers’ is still in Ayodhya.”
Lauding the BJP, the UP CM said: “For us, every citizen of India is the son of ‘Mother India’, we cannot discriminate against anyone. This sentiment is the basis of the concept of ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’.”
Appealing the voters to vote for the BJP in ensuing assembly polls, Yogi said,”This assembly election is a campaign to advance Bengal as prosperous Bengal, as ‘Shonar Bangla’. This election will become a medium to provide employment to the youth. This election will be a means of bringing prosperity in the life of every citizen of this place.”
The firebrand BJP leader accused Mamata Banerjee of hating saffron colour.
“Now Mamta didi is also worried about ‘saffron’. She should know that saffron is a symbol of Indian culture. Swami Vivekananda, wearing a ‘saffron’ dress, had said on the global stage that ‘proudly say that we are Hindus’. We also offer saffron to Goddess Kali on Ashtami.”
Yogi Adityanath said that Mamata Banerjee is only interested in nepotism.
“Mamata didi has no interest in development and public welfare. She has fallen into nepotism and wants to create a new orgy of chaos in Bengal.”
The UP CM said that West Benagal has become a haven for goons in the TMC rule.
The countdown for TMC goons is about to start 35 days from today as then there would be rule of BJP and not of TMC. All these goons will nabbed and put behind bars.
It is notable that elections for 294 seats of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly are scheduled to be held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in 8 phases.
In 2011, Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee ended the Left Front’s 34-year rule and formed the government by winning 227 seats in the 294-member Assembly in alliance with the Congress and Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist). TMC itself won 184 seats.
Now, the BJP is aiming to end Mamata Banerjee led TMC government’s 10-year rule and form the first BJP government in West Bengal. (PW News)
